we are currently open for online features and our music compilation series!

our submission process

submit all work to wtpresscontact@gmail.com with the subject line submission type (e.g. online feature submission, mini zine submission.)

please include:

  • submission title (untitled work is fine!)
  • artist name
  • short 3rd person bio about the artist (1-3 sentences)
  • optional statement describing your piece (1-3 sentences)
  • optional social media links

simultaneous submissions are expected and encouraged, but please let us know if your piece is accepted elsewhere. we accept previously unpublished work; if a piece has been published on personal blogs or social media that is fine!

we do NOT accept AI-generated or bigoted content.

please allow up to 6 weeks for a response before checking in about your submission.

we are open to experimental submissions and combined mediums! please reach out with any pitches or questions.

we believe artists deserve access to paid opportunities, and will have paid submission opportunities in the future. wishful thinking press does not currently any open paid opportunities.

8-page mini zines – OPEN

8-page mini zines are made out of single sheets of paper and then folded into a booklet format. to be considered for publication, please send over your zine design as a single page using this template. if you would like help designing the zine, you can also send over up to 8 pages of content for consideration (including front/back cover) and we will collaborate with you in creating the final product. 

important details:

  • page dimensions must be 8.5 x 11 inches and sent over in pdf format.
  • both handwritten/drawn designs and digital designs are welcome. if scanning in a hand-designed zine, please ensure quality is 300 dpi or larger. see here for SOME helpful information about DPI.
  • zines can be designed in color or black & white.

once accepted, expect the following:

  • the words “published by wishful thinking press” will be added onto the back cover of the zine design. if you have a preference for placement, please let us know.
  • wishful thinking press will publish the zine on our website and print copies will be available by mail for free* at anyone’s request anytime. 
  • published artists will receive 10 copies in the mail and the finalized printable pdf so they can distribute their own zines. published artists are welcome to request more zines in the future.

*we believe in increasing access to art, which is why all mini zines published with wishful thinking press will be available for anyone to request by mail for free.

WE WILL BE ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS ON A ROLLING BASIS.

online features – always OPEN

writing

  • page dimensions must be 8.5 x 11 inches and sent over in pdf format.
  • poetry: 1-3 poems please. if more than one piece is chosen, they will be published separately.
  • prose: 1-3 pieces. we accept flash, short fiction, and non-fiction (essays, interviews, reviews, etc.) hybrid or experimental work is welcome. if more than one piece is chosen, they will be published separately.

photography

  • format: .jpg file, RGB color profile, 300 dpi (here is a helpful resource on dpi)
  • individual photos or photo series
    • please limit photo series to 10 images max, note that not all images may be accepted.
  • please make sure you have permission of people in photos before submitting.
  • include any team credits (names of models, makeup artists, stylists, etc.)

visual art

  • format: .jpg file, RGB color profile, 300 dpi
  • 1-10 images. we accept drawings, paintings, comics, collage, and anything multi-media.
    • for art that is not already digital, please submit a high quality scan or photograph your piece in even lighting.

music

  • send us links to your released single, EP or album (spotify, bandcamp, soundcloud, etc.) please include a short description of the work with the title, release date, artist credits, and cover art. optional: you may include additional photos and writing about the work if you wish!

we will be accepting submissions on a rolling basis.

music compilations – always OPEN

  • we will be releasing compilations on bandcamp on a rolling basis.
  • funds from compilations will go towards various community fundraisers, one fundraiser per album.
  • each album will be 10 songs. if you submit a song to us that we want to accept and we are at our limit for our current compilation, we will save it for the next one. you may withdraw your submission at any time.
  • you are welcome to submit unreleased OR released music. you keep the rights to your work and can release to your own accounts later on if submitting unreleased.
  • voice memos and demos are welcome.
  • for now, album art will be designed by editors. however, bandcamp has the option to add cover art for each single, so you are welcome to submit your own art as well (optional).
  • we prefer .WAV, .aif, or .flac files, but no worries if they are in another format.
  • we plan on publishing each song as is, so please make sure you are happy with their sound before submitting.
  • include any artist credits.

we believe artists deserve access to paid opportunities, and will have other paid submission opportunities in the future. this aspect of wishful thinking press is to raise money for important causes, so please submit with the expectation that all funds from this project will be donated.

we will be accepting submissions on a rolling basis.

issues & anthologies – CLOSED

we will most likely be opening for themed issues this year. more details coming soon!

chapbooks – CLOSED

we will most likely be opening for print projects in 2026. while some details may change, here is a general idea of what we prefer.

we accept poetry, prose, visual art, and photobooks. feel free to submit experimental work. no minimum page length, 30 page maximum.
